The Red House Glass Cone, Wordsley was built at the end of the 18th century. It was used for the manufacture of glass until 1936 and is now one of only four cones left in the UK (and the most complete in Europe).
With its picturesque location along the Stourbridge canal, the cone, which reaches 100 feet into the sky, is now a busy heritage site.
Visitors to the cone can take a free self guided tour around the historic site and at weekends can enjoy glassblowing demonstrations in the hot glass studio. There is also a comprehensive programme of exhibitions and events running throughout the year.
The Red House Glass Cone is also home to a number of designer-maker studios, including glass artists, a textile designer, florist, ceramic artist, jewellery designer and soap maker. The gift shop in the visitor centre has a great range of gifts, from pocket money treats to books to traditional cut and contemporary studio glass. The Crystal Tea Rooms offer visitors light refreshment.
The cone is a great place for families too, with children's activities at events and during school holidays (JAM club) and birthday parties from four years+, as well as a busy schools’ programme.
