Local History Day
Dudley Archives and Local History Centre, Tipton Road, Dudley, DY1 4SQ
Saturday 5th October 2019, 10am – 4pm
Come and explore the borough’s intriguing past on this free, family-friendly day. There will be 20 stalls representing family and local history societies, as well as behind-the-scenes tours of the Archives, family history advice and children’s activities.
Talks will be given throughout the day on a variety of local topics, including the great Duncan Edwards, 20th century Black Country fashion, women chainmakers and the lives of so-called “lunatics” in the workhouse.
The Friends of Dudley Archives will also be providing some delicious cakes and a raffle with some impressive prizes, including tickets for the Black Country Living Museum, Dudley Canal Trust and Hagley Hall.
Feel free to bring along any historic photographs or documents you may have at home – we’d love to see them and make a copy of them on the day to add to our collections if you wish.
There is parking to the side and rear of the Archives, and steps have been taken to ensure there are more spaces available for our visitors this year.
